A New Journey Parish Vote Passes
Announcement: Results of the Special Congregational Meeting votes as held on Sunday, June 26:
Gary Lutheran Church: Question 1 (to withdraw from the Gary-Rindal Lutheran Parish): PASSED 20 Yea, 0 Nay. Question 2 (to join A New Journey Lutheran Parish by approving the Parish Agreement): PASSED 20 Yea, 0 Nay.
Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bejou: Question 1 (to withdraw from the Immanuel/Our Savior’s Lutheran Parish): PASSED 25 Yea, 1 Nay. Question 2 (to join A New Journey Lutheran Parish by approving the Parish Agreement): PASSED 25 Yea, 1 Nay.
Ness Lutheran Church: Question 1 (to withdraw from the Gary-Rindal Lutheran Parish): PASSED 18 Yea, 0 Nay. Question 2 (to join A New Journey Lutheran Parish by approving the Parish Agreement): PASSED 16 Yea, 2 Nay.
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church: Question 1 (to withdraw from the Immanuel/Our Savior’s Parish): PASSED 28 Yea, 2 Nay. Question 2 (to join A New Journey Lutheran Parish by approving the Parish Agreement): PASSED 16 Yea,13 Nay.
Sundal Lutheran Church: Question 1 (to withdraw from the Gary-Rindal Lutheran Parish): PASSED 13 Yea 0 Nay.
(Sundal Lutheran only voted to withdraw from the Gary-Rindal Lutheran Parish. They had decided prior not to join in the formation of the new Parish. That is all that has been decided thus far on any changes to future ministry partnerships with Sundal. We will continue to work together until at least October 31.)
This means that Gary, Immanuel, Ness, and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will now begin the process of forming one, new Parish “A New Journey Lutheran Parish.” We have been working together as two joint Parishes already under this name, and this vote was to officially join together. This process will take some time. We will begin by forming a new Parish Council and one, unified Call Committee to search for the Pastor/Mission Developer whom God is calling to shepherd us.
Please continue to keep all five congregations in your prayers as we discern where God is calling our shared ministry. We are at the beginning of an exciting New Journey.
